Classes

Kung Fu

Tai Mantis primarily teaches Tai Chi Praying Mantis Kung Fu (太極螳螂). Students also learn sets from other styles taught by Sifu Eng, such as Seven Star Praying Mantis (七星螳螂), Northern Shaolin (北少林), Hung Gar (洪拳), and Fu Jow (虎爪)

Classes are held in a club format. Beginning students are first given individual instruction on basic footwork, strikes, and forms. Students then practice the movements on their own at their own pace. Instructors will check in on students individually to offer corrections and teach new movements.

Beginners are taught fundamental stances and beginning-level routines which build a solid foundation of physical skills such as balance, stretching, footwork, punching, kicking, etc. Advanced students learn a variety of styles and forms, weapons, sparring sets, and specialized training. Many of Sifu Eng's advanced students have been training over 30 years.
